If you have been following this site, you know I LOVE my slow cookers. I love them so much that I have THREE of them! I am always looking for new recipes to try in my slow cooker. Preparing dinner in my slow cookers allows me to make great meals early in the day & then focus on other tasks. too many times in the past, I have gotten wrapped up in what I was doing only to realize it was close to dinnertime & I hadn’t planned anything! Anyway, Betty Crocker offers me (& YOU!) some fabulous recipes to help you plan & prepare meals this Fall. Enjoy!
This summer, enjoy a patriotic themed party any day, any time. Decorations are simple. The menu is even simpler. Just focus on summer favorites and fresh food and you have a winning event every single time.
- Hot Dogs
- Potato Salad
- Cole Slaw
- Corn on the Cob
- Baked Beans
- Crudites with dressing
- Ice Cream
You can add and subtract dishes as needed depending on the size of the crowd at your event. The beauty of the menu is how easy it is to make more if late arrivals show up. Just keep the grill fired up and you can have fresh hot food ready in minutes.
Extra salads and desserts never go to waste. They make great leftovers following your event.
Decorations are even easier. A trip to The Dollar Tree offers you a variety of red, white & blue tableware & decorations. I found plates, napkins, tablecloths in all three colors. I also found the same items in solid colors. You can mix & match items to make things more interesting. I also found red, white & blue leis, beads, centerpieces, balloons and more. The hard part was stopping myself from buying more than I needed.
While at The Dollar Tree, I also found games that can be played during your event. These include things for the kids to play with during the party. They also had plenty of condiments and snacks that can be used during your event.
Need lots of products for your event? Buy in bulk at the Dollar Tree website.

Special occasions call for more that a few bottles of wine hastily chosen & a tub of ice filled with beer. Time to move up to the grown up side of the bar! I agree that cocktails can be time consuming to mix when you are hosting a party. You might consider hiring someone to tend bar for you. This frees you up to mingle with guests & gives you the satisfaction of knowing the drinks are well made. A paid bartender should also be able to tell you what to purchase & how much you need to stock your bar for the event.
If hiring a bartender is not in your budget or your event is intimate enough not to warrant the expense, then consider creating just one of these fabulous concoctions from Coastal Living. A punchbowl filled with a special beverage, with more pitchers of the same chilling in the fridge, gets your party a special touch without causing you emotional or financial stress. Enjoy!
